Skill Viewer ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data.

The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information to our servers. We have no servers - all processing happens locally in your browser.

Data Storage

The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:

• API Keys - Your API keys for Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude (stored locally, never transmitted to us)
• User Preferences - Language settings, dark mode preference, sidebar width
• Cached Summaries - AI-generated skill summaries to reduce API calls

This data never leaves your browser except when making API calls to your chosen AI provider.

Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with the following third-party services:

• GitHub API - To fetch repository file structure and skill content (public data only)
• AI Providers (your choice):
  • Google Gemini API
  • OpenAI API
  • Anthropic Claude API

When you request a skill summary, the skill content is sent to your chosen AI provider. Please review their respective privacy policies.

Permissions

The Extension requires certain permissions to function:

• storage - Save your settings and cached summaries locally
• activeTab - Access the current GitHub page to detect skills
• Host permissions - Access GitHub and AI provider APIs

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. The only external communication is:

• GitHub API requests to fetch public repository data
• AI provider API requests using your own API key

Data Security

Your API keys and settings are stored locally in your browser's secure storage. We recommend:

• Using API keys with minimal required permissions
• Regularly rotating your API keys
• Not sharing your browser profile with untrusted users

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
